I have one 1 out of 5 with a slipping clutch issue. I change the cable and it works for a few weeks then starts slipping again adjusting cable does not last long.I have replaced a couple of cables on other mowers and they
are working great. Any suggestions on what to try. I have replaced the cone on this machine once. They are
    2008 models.

I would try draining the fluid and see what comes out. I would use Dextron V or higher as it will exceed all the others, and help it run cooler as well. When your setting/adjusting the cables are you using the fish scale and setting each cable to the proper pounds that Toro requires? You can try a fluid change and setting the cables to the right lbs if you haven't tried it yet. If that doesn't work then its time to go inside the trans. I had 04 and 06 models and there was an upgrade to the clutch cones for transport and mow. Also an upgrade to the sun gear that has an extra set of bearings in the middle of it for more support. I don't remember the specs as it was roughly 4 years ago since I was last working on one, but I'm sure you can find them on Toro's site or maybe you have the service manual.

Hope this is of some help to you.

Yes I use a fish scale and Toro's specs.I replaced the cone in 2013 that helped for a year now it is back to
this issue again.I am thinking of making a .002 shem and putting it between the bearing and cone to
give it a little tighter fit. The oil was clean.

could this be that the operators are slamming it in rather than easing the lever in???

Our guys walk to their green sets from the shop. When they leave the shop they engage the clutch easy as they
should. I do not know what happens out on the course.. I would assume that they do not jam them in gear sence
I don't have any other mowers with this issue. I will check in to a new gear & cone. Thanks for the advice.
