We have several very old carryalls. The engines are basically parts units. Has anyone found a good reputable engine exchange or place to buy replacement engines for our ailing carts?

I have found a couple of places with price tags from $2200.00-2500.00. We would like something less expensive for our 1995 and earlier vehicles.

What are you doing with the old engines? I might be interested in the blocks at least. Seems to be what I am always looking for. I've got several 1996 and 1998 Carry-Alls that just keep running. Might do a block or two a year, but overall cheap in comparison when you look at the price of new.

I'd have to agree with Andy on this one. These engines are pretty simple to rebuild, and for the most part last forever. I would look into rebuilds if saving money is your main concern.

Well, we keep a mechanic for a year or two and then they move on or want to get on a mower because of retirement age. Plus we do not pay anything and no benefits. (just trying to keep the course open)

After several mechanics we have pieces/parts all over the place with at least one engine that the distributor can not get running. My current mechanic (This year's version) [Retired heavy equipment mechanic] has made progress with many other pieces of equipment but has not had time to get the engines together.

He is done for the year on November 24 and will return again April of next year. His helper (right now) is a 12 year part time employee that can do most jobs better than everyone else I have but has a full time job, but is broken and only able to lift 20lbs. Soooo, between the three of us we are trying to get things together before the accountant sends us packing for the winter. Thought an engine exchange would be the fastest solution.

Mark, I normally rebuild our engines when we can, but sometimes they are beyond that. A good place to check for engines would be Stens and I normally deal with Justin Mehringer and their number is 1-800-457-7444. Our Carryall ball picker went down this past summer and I had to order a motor and they had one to me in two business day since they are just over in Indiana. There are companies out there that sell rebuilt ones, but I have never dealt with before. Here is one I found on the internet: http://www.jandmgolfcarts.com/engineprice.htm
    Good Luck
