A local golf course is selling an older model reel grinder that we are interested in purchasing. It has no apparent decals or model number but is blue (Peerless ??) and at least 30 years old. It looks to have the capability to spin or relief grind and do bed knives. Just wondering if anyone is familiar with this unit or is running one.

Take a picture and send it to SIP (Peerless). They can tell you if it is their's. They can also re-do it for a reasonable price. I have seem some of the grinders they have re-done and they look brand new.

I puchased a used Peerless in 2007 for $3500. My mechanic was not happy at time cause he wanted a Neary or Foley. I owed a Peerless at previous position and knew the machine. After 3 months my mechanic came to me and said it was an awesome grinder. We grind our green reels biweekly and all other reels monthly. How much they asking for the unit in reference.

Not much 1500 bucks and everything appears to be there. Someone has mentioned to me it may be a landpride grinder though I am not aware of that company ever making reel or bedknife grinders

If you can post a photo of the unit here on the forum, then someone will certainly be able to tell what model your looking at. I don't ever recall land pride making a grinder either.

A quick question for you is, does it have chains to hold the cutting unit down? If so, then it is 99.9% sure, to be a peerless. They are the only company that I know of that uses this method to secure the cutting unit.
