Here is one I have used for over 12 yrs. now. absolutely love it and it does a great job.

I used it during this episode of Hectors Shop.

    Also, if you look here
    http://www.hectorsshop.com/tools-of-the-trade.html
You have to scroll down a bit You will find a break down of the tool.

They, are a little pricey but, I have been using the same one, and its well worth the price.
There is some getting used to but once you get it, Its sweet as apple pie.

We do ours by hand. Starting off with a fresh grind from the grinder we then use a bedknife buddy after every use and that helps keep our bedknife edge nice and crisp. It takes anywhere from 3 to 6 quick passes across the knife. Fast and easy. It's not designed to restore an edge, but to maintain the edge.

    Regards,

With a little skill a right angle die grinder works great. We started using 2" 3M Green Corps Roloc discs then went to 2" red 3M discs and now use 3" red 3M discs.

The red discs last a lot longer than the green discs and the 3" size makes it a lot easier to get between the reel blades.

The 3M red discs are harder to find. They are available at Fastenal #3MYF36G. You will have to also purchase the back up pad/arbor to use rolac discs in a die grinder. You want a 3" size if you are using 3" discs. This stays in the die grinder all the time and you just unscrew the discs when they are worn.

For you that are using the bedknife buddy, do you use it just on greens reels or are you using it on tee/collar and fairway units as well?

    Thanks for the idea.

great for touch ups on the tee, approach and greens mower. We run the edgemax bedknife for fwys and it just doesn't do the job so they come off and go on the grinder as needed
