Its that time of year again where the snow flies, golf stops, and we start to work in the shop on the little things. I was curious if anybody had any thoughts on ballwashers. What brand people like the best and prefer the most over others. Not trying to say all ballwashers are not equal, just that they are made different and can handle different conditions. We currently have Par Aide's Master ballwashers. We have constant work every winter in cleaning up the oxidation on the outsides and then painting which causes an uneven paint job and doesn't look as professional as we would like. We are possibly leaning towards purchasing the plastic classic crank ballwashers from Standard. However, this causes a mounting issue with our tee signs we just installed this past year that were set up for the Par Aide ballwashers with mounting brackets. Any thoughts would be helpful thanks.

Get rid of them. Who needs them? Ever see anyone putt out with a dirty ball? Its like those fake occasions that Hallmark comes up with to sell cards--same thing for the accessory industry.

Tried to get rid of mine and only put them on every second or third hole. Had complaints when that there were some missing.

So as a test I left them empty on the course for about 3 weeks. No complaints of ball washers missing water.

I think the ball washers are just for the people to clean the balls they pulled out of the ponds.

I have had both Par Aide and Standard. Didn't like the Standard (plastic) since they never looked "refreshed" from clean up when put back out in spring. If you have to have ballwashers put out (and I did), the Par Aide units always clean up and take paint well. Use a high quality paint (I always had success with Rustoleum), brushed on, in a warm room. Have done with aerosol, and difficult to get an even coat on.

Best of luck on whatever you decide,

Sandblast the par aide ballwashers. The pot metal cleans up great.

That's what we did at my old place, and actually one time sent them out after to a body shop and they did a great job, lasted couple of years and looked great. Of course it depends on if you can get it done reasonably

I took them off the course. It was almost 4 moths before anyone complained. Of course the complaint was from our controller who was a walker. I told her i didn't like her payroll software but i don't compliant about it. Not a single other complaint.

We have 18 out there. Every winter we bring them in the shop and clean them up with a wire wheel to knock off loose paint (mostly the tops) a bit of primer and re-spray on a warm calm day in the spring. We have the deluxe version.

I guess it never occurred to me to just get rid of them all together. I can imagine the uproar at my course if I did this. It seems my membership notices if one of our tee markers aren't perfectly straight. I can only guess it wouldn't last through the whole first day without them before I was forced to put them back out.
