I have a Toro 5700D with a raven scs 440 and I haven't changed anything about how I spray....gpa is the same, all numbers entered into the Raven controller are the same, etc. The last couple times I have sprayed greens the rate jumps to find my gpa on the first pass of the green. After the first pass it typically will hold the correct rate until I travel to the next green and then the process starts all over again. Everything mechanical seems to be working properly: pump, high pressure discharge valve, agitators, boom hoses, nozzles, diaphragms, etc. Ending rate seems to come out close to normal considering the jumping. This makes me think that at least the majority of the time the flow meter is ok. In manual, the pressure will adjust but also has psi holding issues. This happens when using the floor switch to turn on booms or when using individual boom switches on console. Any ideas?

The only time I have had any issues in when it was pulling in air from somewhere in the system. Check all your o rings wherever you would remove any of hoses. I like to use some dielectric grease on them to assure there's no leak. You may need to replace some of them as they do wear from taking them in and out. You can also pull the flow meter and clean it warm water just to be sure its spinning freely. I have also sent our controllers into Toro during the off-season to have them gone through, once every couple of years just to be safe. The fact that it's giving you trouble in manual mode makes me think it's pulling in a little air. Just my thoughts and I hope it helps you out some.

    regards,

    Hey Henry,
We checked every o-ring, hose clamp and any other connection on the system. I then preformed thorough testing. I am still unsure of where the air was coming from exactly, but it worked! Thanks for your help!
