We are looking to replace our RM5200D fairway mowers and have been debating back and forth between Deere's 7500A and Toro's 3555D. Everyone has their own opinion when it comes to manufacturers, just looking for the pro's and con's of each from the guys that have used them. Both the same price range, so that isn't a factor. Looking mostly from a mechanic's perspective in reliability, maintenance, etc. Thanks in advance

We've got both here at our course; 7500A eCut for our fairways and the 3555D for our approaches. From an equipment Manager perspective the 3555 is easier to work on. Not sure if Toro has upped the hp in the 3555D but if it's non tier 4 then you don't need to mess with all the EPA stuff that's associated with it. Reels haven't changed much between Toro equipment so if your EM is used to those he'll thank you. The 7500A we have is a great machine but requires more attention to keep it running smooth. Tier 4 parked regens will be required and with tier 4 there's a bunch of sensors that come into play. Reel wise the QA5 and QA7 are unique as they both have eccentrics in the front and the HOC is adjusted by the rear roller. If an operator bumps the reel it could throw it out of square and then you'll have ACA issues. I throw my QA5s on a machinist grade b slab of granite after any maintenance to make sure they're within specs and won't have any issues on the course. More work, less headaches that way.

We had the JD 8000 18", they weren't bad but in our case i had issues with bed bar being tight and moving. Didn't like it. Cut was ok as long as you kept up. We have the 3550d 18" reels. Can't say enough about them. No issues. This is our last year with the lease and we will be getting 4 more for next year. Me personally wouldn't want anything other than toro in here after using the other colors. I did like the old jac 3400. They were nice.
