Has anyone had issues with the JD2500B Triplex mower with reels sagging after use and even in between greens during transporting from green to green? I have had the dealership look and thought we had it fixed but after just one mowing it went right back to doing the same thing again. Tested the lift cylinder and they tested good. Have replaced O-rings in the valve bank only to have it continue to sag. Now with the busy season upon us can't afford to have dealership look at it again. Any other ideas????

    Thanks for looking

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by sagging but we have issues with the center reel draping during transport and I have found that putting a seal kit in the lift cylinder on the center unit usually fixes that. But if its all 3 reels at once it could be both cylinders.

It may also be the lift valve. Most times in the up position they will drop some, if not all the way over night but should stay up when running. Most cases when running and dropping it's a lift/lower valve or a cylinder leaking as mentioned in above post.

    Thanks Henry,

We have tried to replace the O-rings in the lift valves, we have also isolated the cylinders and tested them and they tested good. They are a sealed cylinder that cannot be repaired. New cylinders are over $300. That's a little high to be guessing that the issue is them. hydraulic oil and filter changed per JD specs. Like stated earlier had JD service look at one unit for over 3 weeks and after I got it back and used it once on 18 greens started sagging again.

Raise your units, then with each unit supported take off the hydraulic lines and cap them. Remove the supports and let the units rest, if one drops overnight, or both, then there is an internal leak within the cylinders. If they do not drop then they are good. What will happen is if they leak oil will go from one side of the piston to the other allowing them to drop. This will rule out your cylinders, or tell you that there is at least part of the issue. It will take you a little time to do, but it wont cost much and you don't need any special equipment other than some plugs and caps for you lines. You want the units as high as you can get when un-hooking them so you don't push any oil out, this way when they are capped you will have a fully raised cylinder. When seals go bad the oil is just passing back over the ram or piston allowing them to drop. If you have a warranty, or if they have replaced the lift/lower valve then that should at least have a parts warranty, I would have them replace it again. Not uncommon for those to go bad, or have a bad run of them from the manufacture. By the way, are all three dropping? Hope this helps. If you need any additional help feel free to shoot me an email. If I get time I'll dig up a schematic and take a look and make sure there isnt a check valve causing you issues.
