    good morning all,
we have a 94 club car carryall, that is running pretty poorly. just recently started, when we have the gas pedal depressed fully it revs up and then stops-backfires, constantly reving up and stuttering. we have replaced spark-plugs, filters, carb, pretty much everything. could this be electrical? any ideas thanks

Could be a bad coil. Just had a gas cart do something similar to what you are describing and it turned out to be the coil not working right. Cart revs up, cuts out then ignites the fuel that was still being fed into engine causing a backfire.

I agree with Keith, we have seen the same thing in our 1999 and 2004's

Replaced coil, rpm limiter, governor cable. Still same issues. Will keep you updated

    Throttle cable is stretched.

With all you have done and replaced I would lean toward head gasket and or bad valve.

To input on top of what Jon said, I would recommend doing a compression test.

Not positive, but if it has the ACR, you will want to do a leak-down test. More accurate than a compression test and will pinpoint your problem area. With ACR the engine needs to spin at a certain RPM so the flyweights open in order to get an accurate compression reading. This is the one reason I do leak down testing, and it will put us in the area that is need of repair.

    Regards.
