    GREETINGS:

Taken from the Archive files - July, 2013 Subject - USA Stupidity

This is so sad; from a proud strong country to a laughing stock of the world.

Canadians' Version of David Letterman's Top 10. Just makes you want to shake your head in disbelief, and just maybe choke someone in charge. This is Canada's Top Ten List of America's Stupidity.

    # 10 - Only In America ... could politicians talk about the greed of the rich at a $35,000 per plate Obama Campaign Fund - Raising Event.

    # 9 - Only in America ... could people claim that the government still discriminates against black Americans when they have a black President, a black Attorney General and roughly 20 % of the federal work force is black while only 14 % of the population is black, 40 % of all federal entitlements goes to black Americans - 3 times the rate that go to whites, 5 times the rate that go to Hispanics.

    # 8 - Only in America ... could they have had the two people most responsible for our tax code, Timothy Geithner (the head of the Treasury Department ) and Charles Rangel ( who once ran the Ways and Means Committee ), BOTH turn out to be tax cheats who are in favor of higher taxes.

    # 7 - Only in America ... can they have terrorists kill people in the name of Allah and have the media primarily react by fretting that Muslims might be harmed by the backlash.

    # 6 - Only in America ... would they make people who want to legally become American citizens wait for years in their home countries and pay tens of thousands of dollars for the privilege, while they discuss letting anyone who sneaks into the country illegally just 'magically' become American citizens.

    # 5 - Only in America ... could the people who believe in balancing the budget and sticking by the country's Constitution be called EXTREMISTS.

    # 4 - Only in America ... you need to present a driver's license to cash a check or buy alcohol, but not to vote.

    # 3 - Only in America ... could people demand the government investigate whether oil companies are gouging the public because the price of gas went up when the return on equity invested in a major U.S. Oil company (Marathon Oil ) is less than half of a company making tennis shoes ( Nike ).

    # 2 - Only in America ... could you collect more tax dollars from the people than any nation in recorded history, still spend a Trillion dollars more than it has per year - for total spending of $ 7 Million PER MINUTE, and complain that it doesn't have nearly enough money.

#1 - Only in America ... could the rich people - who pay 86 % of all income taxes - be accused of not paying their " fair share " by people who don't pay any income taxes at all.

BONUS: "Only in America do you have to pass a drug test to get a pay check, yet any crack head can get their welfare check no questions asked."

Like all nonsense - let it to blow itself out and resume the good fight.
Let the fans of the carnival enjoy it while it's in town. Each side does this while the hard work is done by those on the center-right and center-left
Russia has already won the decade. They were due and we were ripe and walked right into it.
    Enjoy yourself Capt.

EDIT: If you want to put down facebook/twitter/talk radio for a minute and read a good one from a Republican-turned-never-trump, Tom Nichols -- 'The Death of Expertise' is a nice companion for the current events we're all witnessing today and within the last 2 years, and probably years to come. Blame the internet, blame human nature..yet here we are.

..So you don't waste time reading something you'll hate -- this sums it up -- not unique to left or right.

[quote">But democracy denotes a system of government, not an actual state of equality. It means that we enjoy equal rights versus the government, and in relation to each other. Having equal rights does not mean having equal talents, equal abilities, or equal knowledge. It assuredly does not mean that "everyone's opinion about anything is as good as anyone else's." And yet, this is now enshrined as the credo of a fair number of people despite being obvious nonsense.

Only in America could a mendacious, orange clown be elected by a minority of the voters to the highest office in the land.

I was witness to a "discussion" recently between a Trump supporter and balanced individual. During the spat the Trumpite called the rational individual Saul Alinsky. Curious about the context I read up on Saul and found this quote about why he never joined any political party. Pretty much sums up my feelings. Too bad there aren't more Saul Alinsky's in the world regardless of their political leanings:

"Not at any time. I've never joined any organization—not even the ones I've organized myself. I prize my own independence too much. And philosophically, I could never accept any rigid dogma or ideology, whether it's Christianity or Marxism. One of the most important things in life is what Judge Learned Hand described as "that ever-gnawing inner doubt as to whether you're right." If you don't have that, if you think you've got an inside track to absolute truth, you become doctrinaire, humorless and intellectually constipated. The greatest crimes in history have been perpetrated by such religious and political and racial fanatics, from the persecutions of the Inquisition on down to Communist purges and Nazi genocide."

Captain, you should really try some mental Metamucil because the likes of yourself are propping up fanatics. That's not going to end well.

I was thinking about that, Ron, wrt to the fallout when Trumpism ends and there's a reckoning.. I'm genuinely afraid for people like Kirkman and even Bowman -- some of my relatives too. I think they got caught up, like so many did, and replaced what being a human means with what being "American" means. They chose nationalism..and that's a short ride with an abrupt and violent ending.

    Larry;

On the bottom left of my computer, there is a lady that talks to me. However, I don't know how to talk to her. So, I have to write in what I wish to know. I guess I am actually googling.

You can go either way and type in or ask " A Canadians version of David Letterman's top 10". This is how I came up with the list.

Now, I have to go figure out what mental Metamucil is. By the way tell those other gentlemen that Hillary lost the race and find out who they might like to see as president. Bet they can't answer the question.

A very ironic quote indeed. Alinsky espoused what he, himself, would not practice. Therefore, he was what he railed against. More Saul Alinskys? No thank you.
