Greetings from Eco wonderland Costa Rica . I have always tried to maintain my courses at the highest level of sustainability and always get Audubon Certified as quickly as I can. Because environmentally speaking until you get
certified in something like Audubon it could all be just talk. We do a daily golf tour sometimes three a day through the front nine with our guests from the hotel and stop at some of the giant trees and give some history and enjoy the monkeys and such. This has been a huge success and has changed the way many people feel about golf and the environment for the better.

This year we took it another step and now we offer our guests a chance to plant a native tree in one of our areas on the golf course we have set aside for reforestation. We only plant May to Nov our green season and since May have put 1000 trees in the ground. Last year we planted 2000 trees with employees and some outside schools this year our goal is 2500. We have been doing this tour for 5 years and average 3000 guests per year, so I guess my point is
I feel as Superintendents communicating that we are stewards of the environment is something we have to do.
Thus ensuring that we help people understand that golf courses can be green in more than one way!!!!!!!
