Does anyone have an eco-friendly way to get rid of duck weed in ponds?

We use a net with weights and floats that I had built for us this winter. It is 20 feet long and skims it right off the top. If the ponds are small enough a guy can walk on each side of the pond and pull it to the end, use a cart to pull it out and begin loading it into the cart and haul it off. For the larger ponds I have a small boat that we put a trolling motor on and put that in the water and a person on shore with the other end, load the same way.

Works great if you start early in the year and keep up with it. Slightly time consuming but still cheaper the the sonar apps.

If you would like more info on the net I can post here if you would like.

If you can when the weed population gets thick, the 35+ mph winds will blow the crud to one side of the pond (just be careful with the skimming equipment). Easy money Of course don't forget to reduce the nutrient load into the pond.

I could suggest a good herbicide but the wrong forum category for that I suppose.

Our property has 25 water bodies on it. Our Aquatic contractor keeps them fairly clean EXCEPT ONE.
The Duck weed is prolific. Its looks like you can walk across it.
It gets fertilized by a Rookery on one side.
Fluridone has an impact, but doesn't last long and very expensive.
Looking at changing contractors this next fiscal year. This is unacceptable.
