I'd like some options of bermudagrass removal from the rough. The owner wants bermuda to be in the fairways only. Fusilade II is being recommended.

Basically everthing beyond fairway height. Most rough has been taken over by the bermuda. If there is cool-season, it is tall fescue.

John your owner is asking you do spend a lot of time and money on your roughs in a transition zone course where green is good. Seperating fescue and Bermuda is a tall order chemically. I can understand doing this in a fairway but the roughs? I assume they feel the Bermuda rough makes it too difficult at a taller height of cut? Spraying a clean line around the fairway edge without hurting the Bermuda fairways will be difficult?

It is either Fusilade II or this:
Acclaim Extra tank mixes for control of bermudagrass in Zoyiagrass and Tall fescue:
Tank mixes of Acclaim Extra and triclopyr ester (Garlon) may be used to control bermudagrass in Zoyiagrass and tall fescue when used in a treatment program. A tank mixture of Acclaim Extra at 20-28 oz acre and 16-32 oz of triclopyr beginning two weeks prior to the time when Bermudagrass normally becomes evident in Zoyiagrass and Tall fescue. For the best results, repeat applications every 4-6 weeks for up to 5 applications a season depending on your local conditions. Use the lower rates for uniform populations of bermudagrass intermixed with the desired turf and higher rates where large bermudagrass patches are dominant in the turf stand.

When I am spraying things around my greens I replace the end nozzle on the (sprayhawk) boom with a Tee Jet OC (off center) nozzle that sprays straight down on one side and normal on the other.

    Hi Gregg,
I have learned very quickly time and money is not an issue with the owner.

From what I have seen research wise Mike has the answer, follow his methods and you will get the results. I think along with the chemical approach, managing fertility to favor fescue, much less N overall and apps in fall will be the best approach. Good Luck my friend, I am sure you will get it in time!
