    Guys and Gals,
Please take a close look at these pictures. In my 30+ years I have never had this happen to me.
Verticut on Monday, 2.5 lb/m 18-9-18 on Tuesday, cycle soak irrigation run that night. Next morning while mowing I noticed turf around cup looking a little stressed. By the time I made it back to this hole for minor hand watering at 11:30, the area looked like it was burning up. Moisture in soil was fine but I went ahead and syringed it a couple of times while hitting the areas that needed the h2o. Came back to it around 2 and the area had turned straw color and there are bare foot foot prints all over the green. My only guess is they were sitting at the cup while spraying themselves with bug spray sometime thru the night. The dew and no sun would allow the spray to stay active longer. This is mini-verde and I'm praying it will grow out before our member guest in a couple of weeks, if not, then I'll have to paint it. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Are you suggesting insect repellent may be the culprit for the entirety of the decline?

what was the humidity and dew point when the fertilzer was applied?

I've seen a homogenous fertilzer breakdown in humid conditions causing a burn on bent, especially with foot traffic.

    just my opinion. ...

This seems the most likely, particularly as the most damage is nearest the cup, where traffic is the most concentrated.

Fertilized all 19 greens, No damage any where but on this one green. Starting to see some faint green up happening so it was most likely the bug spray.
    Thanks

That's an incredible amount of bug spray damage. We have burn from bug spray all the time and I have never seen an area larger than 3'x3' affected. Perhaps that green received an overdose of the fert? As Doug said, I have seen burn from fert that was not watered in right away particularly if the K source is muriate.

Any chance that one green didn't get watered in? Or the irrigation cycle didn't run that night?

Bug spray damage would not track that far away from the cup. Maybe there was some "after hours traffic" but this looks like fertilizer burn only!!!! Maybe some care free spirits were on the green prior to the final irrigation cycle??

This would be my guess. It's not from buy spray. It's fertilizer burn
