Streaks after a heavy rain

Was going through some photos on my phone from this past summer and came across these pictures of a fairway area that got these streaks after a heavy rain in July. I never really got to concerned, because they faded away every day as the area dried and firmed up. If I remember correctly they only lasted a few days and never returned since. I thought maybe Waitea (never seen it on fairways) or some sort of fairy ring. What does everyone else think?

I would guess pine pollen deposits. Next time it happens look for the pollen:

    Larry,

Thanks for the reply, very interesting. The shadow you see in the photos is from a very large pine tree that is within a few yards of where the photo was taken.

I would tend to agree except it appears that the turf is declining between the yellow lines. Looks more like magnified sun burn from standing water too me. Hard to know for sure without more info.

The rain we got before the streaks was close to an inch and a half in a matter of two days. Over an inch the second day. Within a couple of days the streaks were gone completely. This particular fairway drains pretty well as it slopes slightly to the south and also has supplemental drainage. There are some small areas to the right of those streaks that can hold a little more water, but never really troublesome. The pine pollen makes a lot of sense.

Do grass clipping gather in your fairways after heavy rains? I've seen similar patterns after the clippings have been removed. I've also seen pine pollen do this but in the spring.

That particular fairway/approach is on a par 3, we pick up the clippings.
