I have undertaken the project of rebuilding my 20+ year old sprayer. My first stumbling block was researching boom height and nozzle spacing. All of the TeeJet spec sheets refer to nozzle spacings of either 20" or 30". My current spacing is 10" and there are no technical data sheets on that spacing. According to the tee jet manual, boom height is generally 1 to 1 with spacing, so that 20" nozzle spacing would be about 20" above the ground meaning that a 10" spacing would be about 10" above the ground (minimum). My boom height is currently about 20" and I am certain that if I lowered it to 10" I would bust off three nozzles on my way to my first green. I suspect that it has been working for me because I have about a 200% overlap (according to the Tee jet spec sheet). My question to you guys is what is your nozzle spacing on your sprayers? Does anybody have 10" spacing? How about 15"? I was thinking about a happy compromise. Please chime in with your nozzle spacings and boom heights.
    Thanks

    Norma,

10 inch spacing at a 20 inch height is a excellent boom configuration for green spraying. It keeps the conversion factor at 2 with makes nozzle selection simpler. I have sprayed for years with a 10 inch spacing, but recently switched to a newer sprayer which operates at a fluctuating pressure and speed while maintaining a consistent gallons per/acre application, what I have found is at a 20 inch spacing I can not get enough volume out for the coverage I prefer for a greens application. 20 inch spacing is great for larger areas but in my experience i find it a bit limiting for smaller area applications.

    Norma:

Attached is some info that may help configure your boom height and choice of nozzles.

    Good Luck
