Hi Guys anyone had any issues with red palm weevil, probably doesn't exist in USA , but prolific in other parts of the golfing world with warm enough climes for Palm trees.
we are being advised to use a real cocktail some banned in Europe and USA , so I am not keen to follow the guides set for Saudi Arabia.
So any ideas and successes gratefully received.

Nic Saudi Arabia and freezing , well 28 c everything is all relative

Nic, the red palm weevil turned up in Southern California a year or so ago. Not sure if it will be helpful, but here's a link to the UCR site. They do talk a little bit more about control on the 'csir blog' link at the bottom of the page.

It does not seem like there was any kind of insect we could not control with Di-Syston back in the 80's. I don't see ornamentals on any of the labels I was able to locate this morning though.

Guys many thanks for replies .

Web site gave some good documents , I was surprised this problem had reached USA .

They say that in Asia there are sufficient predators of the weevil to keep populations in check , here in Saudi and Southern Turkey ,its almost endemic .

    Thanks Nic
