Just curious to see if anyone out there has used these products together to save time? Due to the strength of our trade winds we have a limited times for spraying all 33 acres of fairways, so we need to make the most of it when we can. I know the specticle can be water in the next morning which would be plenty of time for the pylex to work its magic and lose very little of our specticle. Any thoughts or suggestions? We are getting great responses from .50oz/A rate of Pylex which is controlling and killing most of "very" mature goose grass and only bleaching the Bermuda for a couple of weeks. Of course we would be using the lower rates of both products.

I've used both independently, but no experience combined. Just a few thoughts...have you tried lower pylex rate? I'm seeing great control of goosegrass at a fraction of what you are using. Also, unless I'm mistaken, pylex is both root and shoot absorbed so if it got watered in, wouldn't be an issue. Finally, we routinely apply specticle during the day and water in at night with no loss of efficacy, therefore your plan would most likely work well. If you do decide to combine the two, please let us know how it works. With pylex being so new and rates so low, I've been hesitant to experiment with tank mixes.

Mahalo for the reply Keith, if I get the nerve to try I will let you know how it goes!

This course has been besieged by goosegrass going on 40 years now, I mean I'm talking acres and acres of premium GOOSEGRASS! All the mainland reps who visit here always say the same thing, "I've never seen a course with this much goosegrass." Most of these goosegrasses are resistant to the usual remedies...MSMA & Sencor, both Revolver-dismiss and even Revolver-blindside combos turn it brown and dry out but it comes back in about 14 days.
Tenacity and Tribute Total both work well at the highest rates but anything less the goose doesn't get phased much.
Pylex is the ticket right now and at $23-47.00 an acre it can not be beat.

Todd, your growing season is much different than mine and I don't know what variety Bermuda you have, but we can see some pretty good damage on our Vamont Bermuda with repeated applications of Pylex at .5 oz/A...in fact, we are attempting to remove it from our Bentgrass fairways using that strategy. It is a great new tool for Goosegrass. Specticle has worked near miracles for us once we worked out proper rates and timing in our zone. Good luck.

Tony, I would be extremely careful, this may not be the product for your application. It is harsher on Dallisgrass than Bermuda.

Instead of .50 oz per Acre----try .25 oz per Acre.....works great here on my course in NJ without the slightest bit of dis-coloration to the fairways!!!
