I am about to spray all the areas of my course that we are not going to overseed with prodiamine. My roughs are not getting seeded and right now there are long and brutal (3 inches). I am a bit concerned that the prodiamine wont be as effective trying to get through that long grass to the soil. I do realize that weeds will have a harder time growing in there anyway, but I was just curious if anybody else has done what I am about to do.

Throw some water on it Tyler. It will get to the soil. I know it takes longer and more loads to spray but spray at a heavier volume. That will help push it to the soil as well.

I've done border passes in the rough with granular Prodiamine using drop spreaders to apply as well as spraying border passes before that. The rough height was closer to 2" or so, but control was solid with the typical breakthrough here and there. I would agree that given enough water that control should be effective although I would assume it depends on your rate of application and other environmental factors.

No one seems to use it anymore, but I used to get razor sharp edges using XL from a drop spreader. It was always very safe.
