    Keep moving.

Seriously though, saw fans set up on the driving range at a course in the South Carolina low country. The moving air kept the bugs at bay.

Gnats are bad this time of year here in the Chicago area, use good anti bug spray on my hat and arms every morning before going out to change cups and use moisture meter on the greens. In Fact this morning the humidity was high and they were going crazy. It was bug city, soon it will be mosquito season as well. We also get aerial bug spraying starting later this month to help control the situation, its done by helicopter that comes early am and sprays the entire golf course area. Very wet early season is leading to big populations of bugs as water pools in low spots in the woods and other places is home for them!

Couple of hints for personal protection

    1. A laundry dryer sheet placed under your hat
    2. Absorbine Jr. smeared on behind yours ears-kind of hard to find in stores. I have a member who owns a pharmacy who special ordered me a case a couple of years ago. Always keep some around for the crew.
    3. Avon Skin- So-Soft applied behind your ears

    Give these a try.

I believe this is the product being used, it is most common for this protection here and all over the country.

    Duetâ„¢

Duet™, an advanced dual-action mosquito adulticide, combines the proven efficacy of sumithrin (the active ingredient found in Anvil) plus the exceptional knockdown of prallethrin. Together, these two active ingredients cause "benign agitation", or a unique, non-biting excitation. This offers the potential to draw mosquitoes from a resting state…enabling greater control of the natural population

I had an assistant who swore by English Leather Cologne. I tried it and it worked.

I use Avon's Skin-So-Soft with bug guard and also has SPF 30 sunscreen spray and lotion. Works great on repelling all insects and is unscented with vitamin E.

We used regular Skin-so-Soft for sand gnats when sodding Long Cove Club on Hilton Head. It worked very well. It did not work well for the flies in South Florida and for some reason they have have not been bad at all for the past several years down here.

we found that Vanilla extract works well also. Rub a little behind your ears and such and they tend to stay away. And, you smell like a cookie!
