Hello all, hope this finds everyone well. I am starting to have some yellow nutsedge issues and am thinking of using Echelon to prevent any new plants. This is also labeled for crabgrass. Has anyone used this product and had good control of the sedges and more important, good control of goose and crabgrass? My target area is a couple of approach areas around my Penncross greens. I am also contemplating the use of Echelon and also Barricade to ensure good control of the crab and goosegrass. My worry is phytotoxicity using these two preemergents together. I can post emerge with Sedgehammer but would like to try the Echelon.
Thank you in advance for any input given. Hope everyone has a good season this yr.
    Mark.

    Mark-

I think Echelon already has Prodiamine as an ingredient.

Dismiss/Barricade. Helps clean up sedges and a pre-em. We have used it several times.

    Mark,

Using for the first time this season. Rep told me to use it split apps April/May. April gets crab and early May gets sedge.

Here is his message he sent me. This is for mid-America STL area for timing.

Here are a few notes on Echelon applications.

    For Zoysia:
    1) Split applications work best. If you're doing Round Up/Barricade on dormant Zoysia, you would want to have enough Barricade in that app to get you to the 1st week of May. follow up with your first echelon Application May 1st. You want to make sure the Zoysia is actively growing. The 2nd application would be made 30 days later on June 1st.
    a. Rates – 12 oz/acre per application. For each application, you are getting 0.25 lbs AI of Prodiamine per acre and 4 oz AI of Sulfentrazone per acre. The two applications combined will give you a total of 0.50 lbs AI Prodiamine and 8 oz Sulfentrazone
    b. Water in immediately if possible. Even a turn of the head behind the sprayer to wash the app off of the leaf blade will help eliminate any phyto possibilities and then water in thoroughly that evening.
    c. You will get some post activity on any sedge/kylinga that may have emerged.

    For Roughs:
    1) Again, split applications work best. I have seen success with April 15th followed by May 15th applications.
    a. Rates – 12 oz/acre per application. Some will add in a little more Prodiamine to get their Prodiamine rates up into a more comfortable level.
    b. Again, water in immediately if possible just to wash off of the leaf blade and then thoroughly water in that night.

Thanks everyone for the input. Plan on using Echelon in a few choice areas on 328 and 419 Bermuda. Also can clean up with Sedgehammer. I have spot treated on bent greens as a trial with complete eradication with little or no discoloration of the bent. Thanks again for the replies. I am in NW Ar. right on the Mo. border.
