Anyone had any experience with bermudagrass mites and their control? What did you use and at what rates? What worked the best? Would appreciate any feedback! If you like you can email me at: cadcgcs@live.com
    Thanks!

We had a problem several years ago with mites, I believe we used Cross Check ( Bifenthrin ) for the control. I don't remember the rates but I'm sure it's on the label. I think it took a couple of apps to see relief on the turf.

We used something in TX, but I can't remember off the top of my head. I'll find out tomorrow. We can't use Avid in FL...

Bifenthrin works best for us here in Mexico, I have used Lorsban to keep it at bay it but the miteicides work best.

They re-populate pretty quickly so it is best to do a back up spray within a 7-10 days...

We have a dry climate (approx 2-4 inches a year) so it can get bad in stressed areas.

I am sure you are seeing that "witches broom" or "bunched look" in the effected areas, that is normally a good sign they are around.

This is a big problem in the south Pacific, a twelve month battle. Most clubs seem to be using the cheapest products available. Helps if you can get the product inside the plant.

We use the active abamectin here in Australia. The mite life cycle is 7 - 10 days so a follow up is important.

What kind of rate of the Abamectin is being used? We have it labeled here in SC for nematode control on greens but it is not labeled for any other turf areas.

Registered at 1L/Ha here for mite control and 5L/Ha for nematodes. Abamectin active ingredient is 20gm/L.

Avid is labeled for Florida. I just ordered some for whitefly. It was recommended to me by the Extension agent.

We use Avid @ 28oz/A monthly on our greens. It has really helped to reduce the Lance Nematode populations.

Dru, JC came by a few weeks ago and took a look at some areas, then he took a sample back to Florence Pee Dee to look at under a microscope and he confirmed we had them. UGH!
