We are having troubles with keeping goosegrass out of our course even when we apply pre-emergents. We have no crabgrass only Goosegrass in southern Maryland and we are looking at trying Andersons Goosegrass/ Crabgrass pre-emergant on our greens.

Has anyone used this product or have any recomendations?

I am having the same problems here in Texas. Next spring I am going out with Ronstar and going to follow it up with bensumec I dont if that will work on bent or rye but I hear good things about that combo on bermuda greens

I use the high rate of Bensumec on Cato bentgrass greens here in SE PA. It has kept out the poa, goose, and crab

    Ben,

I'm in SW Okla with L93 Bent on USGA Spec greens constructed in 07. Prior to that we used Scotts goose/crab (as it was then) split rate 6-8 weeks apart Mar and early May on the old push ups with good results, however had some trouble with keeping areas of bent through summer sometimes (could have been other management practices) so we switched to dithiopyr using both the Andersons product with fert labeled for greens and sprayable dimension when it was labeled for greens with good results. Following the renovation was an explosion of goose with the disturbed soils starting from the collar area. Since then we treat 18' out from the green with Andersons Goose / Crab and the green. The collar gets a full rate late Feb and half rate mid May. The greens get a split rate 1st half late Feb and 2nd half end Mar followed by a half rate in mid May that is one lap inside perimeter of the greens as this was the most concentrated area of the goosegrass. Good results with this for the past 2 seasons, however I feel our management practices have improved considerably throughout the years with root deveploment and going into the June, July, August period strong. Water management on bent greens is key for us.

When I first got here to SW MO, I did use the Goose/Crab, also had used it in NJ with good success. After a USGA visit they recommended getting away from goose/crab, just in-case we had a bad application with overlapping. We have switched to the Andersons 0-0-20 w/.164% dithiopyr and split apps with our first trying for late April and the second 6 weeks later in May but have gone as late as early May and first of June with great results.

I know some of the others in the area will use an Andersons 10-3-10 (I think) w/.103% dithiopyr and do 3 apps over 6 weeks.

I also think we have done some other practices that helped as well, but I give the pre-emergent product and a good applicator most of the credit.

Was asked the question what was our rate. We go out at 3.5 lbs of product per 1000 sq. ft. on each of our two application.

Used to spray the Dimension EC at .25/m three applications two weeks apart starting in March in Atlanta. No issues and good control of Goose. Always wondered what it would do in the fall for Poa, but never tried it. We were always having to reseed so never got a chance!

For those of you that have applied the Anderson's Goose and Crab, are you targeting a specific ground temperature or just basing your application timing on a specific day?
