Wondering if anyone else is in this boat. My club might not have enough people on their insurance plan to be considered a group this year - 3 total. Does anyone purchase their own plan for their families and could you recommend a good company that services Maryland that doesn't cost an arm and a leg with a $10,000 annual deductible?

Thanks, this is uncharted territory for me at 57! (Maybe I need Obamacare before Medicare kicks in).

Tom you'll find out how good it is in 2013 if he wins re-election. Many companies will be dropping insurance and letting the government run like they want to.

    Tom,

Not sure if there in Maryland, but I would assume so... dropped from my club's plan this year for the same reasons... we were with United Healthcare and I ended up going with Golden Rule, which is for individuals. I actually saved money over the company plan because of the other unfit individuals that jacked our rates...

Thanks, Alan. I'll check out "Golden Rule". I feel like I've been hit with a double whammy because when I went home last night my MD property taxes increased by $300/yr. after they told me that my property value decreased by $90.000. Go figure.

Since my company doesn't pay any portion of the premium for spouse, she has been on her own plan for about 6 years now since it was about $40 cheaper a month. We just added the kids to our work plan since it is now cheaper than through my wife's. We went to an insurance broker, and they found us the best deal. Currently, it is Golden Rule for my wife. But before it was BlueCross/BlueShield.
