   Good morning,
   
   I am looking at installing additional restrooms on the course where there is an absence of power. One question is how many of you have restrooms on the course that utilize your irrigation system? Finally, if you do, what are the legalities for having a system like this?

   I have a couple on our property. Each is hooked up to our irrigation system with no outside power. They have an in ground storage tank that is pumped out about twice a year. The system has worked out great. Just make sure you post signs stating the water is not drinkable and I think you are fine.

   I had a tee that was perpetually soaked. I turned the irrigation off and it did not help. I finally put a rain gauge on it. It never ran at night but it would collect water during the day. Somebody in the brain trust thought it would be a good idea to run a drinking fountain off of the hydraulic control tubing. You guessed it. All you had to do to turn that tee on was use the drinking fountain!

   The human species does amazing things and I would not put it past someone to find a way to sue based on your toilet water not being potable, signs or no.

   We built a bathroom a few years back. Although irrigation was available as a water source, we wanted to make sure we had potable for hand washing. 5,000' of 1.5" potable water poly tubing later and we had water. I think the tubing was only around $1,800 for all ten 500' rolls and couplers.
