Stephen Ravenkamp, CGCS said: Employee surveys are good IF they meet two criteria: (1) they need to be professionally constructed so they are psychometrically valid. Unless the results can be measured without bias they are a waste of time. Most times this type of survey is developed in-house by non-professionals and is not statistically valid; therefore, really tells you nothing. (2) They must be acted upon. If management is not willing to act upon the results they are worse than a waste of time because inaction just reinforces a belief that management doesn't really care and is just going through the motions.
I'm with this guy. I Used to work for a company that would run a survey, refuse to make substantive change based on the results, and blame the managers for employee discontent, and continue to not give managers the tools to make improvements. Worse than a waste of time
