Been having a re-occurring and growing problem here where mostly singles or doubles are teeing up multiple balls or multiple approach shots etc. When approached about the matter the golfer reads "me" the riot act like I'm the bad guy.

Anyone else deal with this problem? Signs and a better pre-round speech from the starter are forthcoming.

    Douglas,

This was always a problem for us when things are slow out on the course. While it can get frustrating the reality of it is all you can do is ask them to play one ball. I usually referenced the fact that my staff was working their way around the course trying to avoid play and the fact that suddenly a single hits as many shots as a foursome becomes a problem for them. Liked to tell staff to proceed with their work once the player hits a shot but often times these types of player will hit even if staff is right in the line of fire. Have to admit that a few times I let it get the better of me and I would watch a player hit a shot and then head up the fairway and pick up all the extra balls, just not the one I just watched. That usually got their attention at least.

In the end unless it is causing real issues with you staff and their safety it's probably easier to just let it go. I'm sure you have bigger problems than this to deal with.

I will qualify this by saying - as long as the golfer isn't turning the course into a driving range.

Why make this an issue unless it is a safety concern, a slow play concern, or the player is not replacing divots/repairing ball marks? Golf is in a bad enough way so if hitting multiple golf balls make the golfer happy then go for it.

    Yep
Better one guy hitting a few ballls than a few guys hitting no balls...
Or, no guys hitting any balls...
    Or...whatever
    We need more gollfers PERIOD
Fill the course with foursomes and the chances of this happening are a lot less
Besides, out here, I'm THAT guy
When I'm not calibrating something or working at my sprinkler efficiency table, of course

1 green fee 1 golf ball?

    That would speed things up.

Pay 1 green fee, get 1 ball. Lose the ball, you go home.

You can have some of our players. We have been slammed with play getting crazier in 2013,2014,2015 ( loco perdido ) and this year packed every day even in low season ( Jan to Feb 15 ). We had banner years during this period with the improvements in course conditioning.

It does really irritate me when a player hits another ball for the hell of it when myself or member of staff are waiting to do something.

We have about 6 teaching and pros and when they pop around the course with students playing a few holes here and there it really annoys me. The maintenance staff need to have their windows to work.

I think we should raise our prices about 25% across the board and reduce play by about 15%. Less aggravation for staff, better course quality and more money for club.
