I was wondering what type of field microscopes you use to help identify anthracnose. There are many to choose from on the web, but they range from very cheap to very expensive. Thanks for your help.

If very unsure send sample out to U of Maryland, Michigan St. NC St. or USGA many places to send good sample and have very quick and very sure results. Microscope is nice but good samples with excellent results are bar none best!

I have a compound microscope that the club bought me. It was around $400 and a good ID booklet called "The Microscope in Turfgrass disease diagnosis" by Pat Saunders from PSU. Both are indispensable tools of the trade that the club should pony up for

For Anthracnose I usually just use the 10X magnifier on my key chain. The acervili (sp) are very obvious even at low magnification

Sorry to hijack this, but Red left me no choice, So Red, you will bend over to look at your turf under your hand lens but won't bend over to put a cover over you cup to prevent tracking dye getting in it?
