I've probably calibrated up to 10 sprayers over the years. For some reason, this one is giving me fits. (MultPro 1250).

I had always used 17-19" for height off the ground for flat fan (80xx). I have been reading the Spraying Systems TeeJet catalog (50a and 51) and I see information that contradicts what I've always done. The spec sheets state a minimum of 17-19" with 30" being optimum height from the target for 20" spacing. My turret has 3 spots for nozzles. I inherited TurfJet wide angle nozzles on the sprayer (just 1 set, no other nozzles on it). They are 21" off the ground, but the spec sheet says optimum of 24".

What are most of you using height-wise? What nozzles (flat fan 80 degree or 110)? I have used one set of flat fan, 1 set AI's and 1 set TurfJet in the past on my turrets for various gallonage depending on whether or not a contact or a systemic and whether or not watered in. If a fertilizer, whether or not it was a foliar or soil incorporated. Seems to be too many height variances now that I really study the catalogs.

    Perplexed,

    -John

    John,

Our Multipro 1250 is 20" off the ground, 20" spacing. Based on this, the TeeJet catalog says we need the 110 degree nozzle for sufficient coverage. So, we run the XR11005 and the AIXR11005 nozzles on them.

If you are using 80 degree nozzles, according to TeeJet, your nozzle would need to be 30" off the ground with a 20" spacing.

I like the flat fans for most applications, no matter what we are spraying. Unless it is a suspension type product that would clog a normal flat fan nozzle, in that case we use a FloodJet. We sometimes use the TurfJet nozzles as well for soil applied products.
