    Hello All,
    Seeking some input/ examples...
Our Mayor has requested Performance Metrics in this years Budget Cycle. In preparation for this, my direct supervisor has requested, of her departments heads, to start thinking of the "percentage of time you and your full time staff spend, on a seasonal basis, with each of your major functions".... Scheduling, purchasing, hiring, etc.
Has anyone done this type of report now or in the past? Would you be willing to share this info with me to review?

Please feel free to email me privately

    Thanks, in advance,

I have just recently been asked similar questions, taken as far as loaded wages (ALL associated costs to have an employee per hour), costs of running all equipment per hour (including fuel, R&M, labor for maintenance, etc.), and a laundry list of others.

There was a thread about digital job boards going on at the same time I got the request-it seems to be a good solution if you can wait to generate the necessary data. The ASB Task Tracker seems to track all of this information and tally it for you as you progress through the year, at an inexpensive price.

I am going to be pushing for this kind of software, but only if I am being pushed to generate a ton of business metrics. I simply don't have the time to sit in the office all day crunching numbers...this seems to be a good answer for that request.

I am not sure what I am going to do about the equipment side.

    Hi Michael,

Our municipality has used performance metrics for decades. We call ours Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Every fulltime employee in the village has 2 or more KPIs. Each employee chooses their own KPIs but a superior has the option of adding KPIs for a staff member. When choosing KPIs we look at the following:
    Is it achievable?
Will it make us more successful and ultimately benefit our guests?
Can it be easily and effectively measured?
Does it substantially impact our business?

One of my KPIs is Green Speed - The target speed for the 18 hole greens is a minimum of 108" and a maximum of 120" - 125". The target speed for the 9 hole greens is a minimum of 96" and a maximum of 108" - 113". I also have KPIs for Topdressing Frequency, Growth Regulator Application and Maintenance Interval Frequencies. My staff KPIs include Green Firmness, Green Moisture, High/Low/Scalped Plugs, Number of Exposed Bunker Mat, Bunker Sand Depth, etc.
Our golf staff measure things like Round Times, Cost of Goods Sold, Percent of Outings Booked. Restaurant staff measure Food Delivery Timing, Cost of Good Sold, Percentage of Labor Cost to Sales, etc.

It's best if you can choose your own KPIs instead of having them imposed on you.

    Good Luck
